We are happy to introduce an effective animal-assisted intervention (AAI) dog testing system based on scientific research. The system allowes the selection of dogs based on the appropriateness of its psyche, physical condition and whether the dog is safe to work with.

I agree and I appreciate the fact that the welfare of therapy dogs is important. I have seen videos of many associations promoting AAIs where you can see the dogs that don’t have a good time at all. Being able to asses their personality to avoid subjecting them to stress is essential. I think that whenever therapy dogs are discussed, it should be emphasized the need that the handlers of these dogs have to be trained in animal behavior and welfare, and above all, must know perfectly the dog with which they work (their strengths and weaknesses), because they are the ones who must guarantee their integrity and welfare during each session.

I think the test is well rounded and provide an insight in the dog´s personality. I liked the score sheet, it was easy to use in most situations, and I felt that the more I used it, the easier it got.
